Brandon is the CEO of Priority Power Management and has served on the board since 2019. Brandon was the past co-founder of MP2 Energy, an industry-leading electricity and services platform company, sold to Shell Energy North America in 2017, and former Founder and Managing Partner for Teleios Commodities. Brandon is a serial entrepreneur in the energy industry and has been responsible for the creation of two energy services businesses and two commodity trading hedge funds. Brandon began his career as the former head of electricity trading at Credit Suisse and Sumitomo.
He is the recipient of “Top 10 Energy Deal of the Year” by Energy Risk Magazine. He is regularly sought out by government officials, market participants, and consumers to discuss the energy marketplace. Brandon has a passion for building teams based upon continuous communication and transparent incentives and is mechanically minded for creating measurable results and returns for his investors.
Brandon is a former member of the Texas A&M Football team and currently serves as the International Chair of the Family Council for the Young Presidents Organization.
Prior to joining Priority Power Management in 2020, Robert served as Executive Vice President of Operations at MP2 Energy (MP2). MP2, an industry leading electricity and services platform company, sold to Shell Energy North America in 2017. Robert spent 11 years at MP2, where he led operations across MP2’s value-chain which consisted of Power Plant Management, Demand Response, and serving as a Retail Electric Supplier throughout the US.
Robert began his energy career in Silicon Valley at APX, Inc. At APX, Inc., Robert was responsible for the delivery of wholesale scheduling, settlement, and SCADA solutions to a diverse customer base. Robert was afforded a unique opportunity to be deeply engrained in very complex customer operations, which provided a unique opportunity to understand the mechanics and strategies from investment banks to independent power producers.
Robert attended Morehouse College, where he received a BA Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
Joe Loner is the Chief Financial Officer of Priority Power Management. He brings over 15 years of finance experience and began his career at General Electric as part of its prestigious Financial Management Program, followed by roles of increasing responsibility at AES, TPG-backed Nexeo Solutions, Panda Power Funds and was most recently at GridLiance, a Blackstone-owned startup independent transmission company where he was directly involved in its sale to NextEra Energy in 2021.
As CFO, Joe collaborates with Priority’s senior management team and Board providing his insights into the strategic vision and tactical execution of Priority Power’s growth, profitability, and capital raising initiatives. He is charged with building and leading a word-class team accountable for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial activities in the organization.
Joe is the winner of the “D” Magazine’s 2020 Outstanding FP&A award where he was recognized for his role in guiding GridLiance through the credit rating process for the first time and received industry-leading ratings.
He graduated with honors from The University of Kansas earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance & Business Administration. He has also completed the Emerging Leaders Program at the University of Virginia – Darden Graduate School of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) as recognized by the AICPA.
John Bick is the Chairman and Chief Commercial Officer of Priority Power Management, a leading Texas-based independent energy management consulting services firm. John has 28 years of energy experience. He joined our team in 2003 and leads the strategy and business development of the firm, as well as providing hands-on expertise to large clients.
Prior to joining Priority Power Management, he was previously Director of Strategic Business Development for TXU Energy, where he was responsible for identifying and developing multi-million dollar, comprehensive energy management and outsourcing engagements across North America.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Texas Tech University and has completed Executive Management Programs at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Justin Courtney is the Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Priority Power Management, and previously served as the Chief Financial Officer. Justin led the company’s recapitalization with Ara Partners in February 2019. He is responsible for coordinating the strategy and growth objectives for Priority, including M&A and capital initiatives. Mr. Courtney brings to Priority 25 years of relevant experience with a focus on the energy sector.
Prior to joining the company, he was a Managing Director at Stephens Inc., where he completed 25 transactions across the deregulated power and natural gas landscape. Previously, he served on the Industrials Mergers & Acquisitions team at Banc of America Securities.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, where he was recognized as a Top Ten Freshman, Top Ten Senior, and Outstanding Senior for the Spears School of Business. Mr. Courtney was recently recognized as a Spears School Tribute, recognizing 100 outstanding graduates over the past 100 years.
Kevin Yung is the Chief Engineer and Development Officer of Priority Power Management with over 30-years of energy industry experience. He is directly responsible for all phases of the infrastructure development activities. These projects include high voltage transmission, substation, and medium voltage distribution projects, as well as micro-grids with both temporary and prime generation. This is a rapidly growing part of the company.
These include early stage development (e.g. financial modeling, grid interconnection feasibility studies, technology reviews, budget forecasting), late stage development (e.g. detailed engineering design, contractual negotiations, utility interconnections, procurement), and construction (e.g. permitting, scheduling, delivery, inspection, commissioning). He is also involved with developing commodity price risk strategies for clients, price structuring, and market analysis.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an Executive MBA from The University of Texas at Dallas. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Prior to joining Priority Power Management in 2020, Russell served as Vice President of Asset Operations at MP2 Energy (MP2). MP2, an industry leading electricity and services platform company, sold to Shell Energy North America in 2017. Russell spent the previous 10+ years at MP2, where he led MP2’s Asset Management business overseeing Power Plant Management, Demand Response, and Real-time and Emergency Operations.
Russell began his energy career as the Lower Colorado River Authority as a generation and transmission operator prior to ERCOT deregulation. Russell then joined ERCOT in 1999 to help ERCOT Operations transition to Single Control Area with various roles in real-time operations and outage coordination through the next decade. Russell gained extensive knowledge over the last 25 years in Energy Markets, Asset Management, Infrastructure, Generation and Load Resource Operations, which provided extensive knowledge on all sides of the energy market.
Russell is a certified ERCOT System Operator and NERC Reliability Coordinator.
Matthew Adams has spent the last twenty-two years working across a broad spectrum of the power and gas industry. He has spent time at companies such as Calpine, Occidental Petroleum, Credit Suisse, and MP2 Energy. During his time in the industry he has held positions covering Risk, Wholesale Origination, Structuring, Retail Origination and Management. This broad experience allows Matthew to look at the power business and opportunities from a uniquely broad perspective.
During the last eleven years Matthew was President of MP2 energy which along with MP2’s management team grew the company from a start up into the largest independent Commercial and Industrial Retailer in the U.S. prior to acquisition by Shell Energy North America in 2017.
Matt earned a BBA in Finance from Sam Houston State University, and MBA from University of North Texas.
Kevin has a passion for competitive and sustainable energy solutions. With over 20 years of progressive accomplishments in the energy industry he understands how this business works. He has a deep understanding of multi-market operational processes from new market entry to complex settlements. Kevin currently leads the Sustainability division for Priority Power Management that includes helping Clients reduce their carbon footprint as well as reporting on successes. These initiatives include onsite Distributed Energy Resource development such as solar generation and battery storage. Also inclusive of large-scale renewable energy projects and Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure.
Prior to joining Priority, Kevin managed the Sustainability practice for MP2 Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell Energy North America. This included growing the first of its kind net metering concept across Texas competitive service areas and the first battery storage and electric vehicle rate plan that incentivized customer purchases. Creating the offsite renewable corporate procurement platform utilizing retail supply contract structures was another popular initiative at MP2 Energy.
Additional accomplishments included market development for wholesale and retail power transactions within the PJM territory. Establishing all start up processes related to customer acquisition, indirect sales and impeccable service. Kevin also spent time at Calpine Energy Services where he managed complex processes associated with power generation development. While at Calpine he also supervised the retail startup serving the largest industrial customers in Texas as well as the largest direct access customer in California.
Prior to joining Priority Power Management in 2020, Trey served as Executive Vice President at MP2 Energy (MP2) with a focus on Business Development and guiding the company as a member of the Management Team. MP2, an industry leading electricity and services platform company, was sold to Shell Energy North America in 2017.
Trey has worked throughout the deregulated energy value chain from real time power plant operations and optimization with MPower Energy Services, to retail energy sales and operations with Champion Energy, and wholesale trading and management at Credit Suisse. Those broad experiences in supply, risk, and operations create a unique understanding of how to structure complex power and gas solutions for customers and partners.
Trey received a BBA in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
Charlie Hewitt brings over 30 years of energy industry experience to Priority Power Management. He is responsible for business process improvement through the implementation of technology and workflow management. He also guides the human resources and change process functions.
Prior to joining Priority Power Management, he was principal at a private energy consulting practice focused on the retail energy market. He also served as Vice President for Hudson Energy Services where he was responsible for designing and implementing portfolio management, risk management, forecasting, contracting, and retail pricing processes and procedures. Previously, he held management roles at Direct Energy and TXU Energy.
He holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also holds BS and MA degrees in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a TXU Environmental Research Fellow.
Satori Energy was acquired by Priority Power in 2021. David C. Wiers has almost 20 years of experience in creating and delivering innovative solutions in the energy industry. Mr. Wiers has participated in deregulated markets from their inception and has shared his expertise at numerous conferences and forums, advocating electricity deregulation and representing third-party aggregator, broker, and consultant (ABC) channels. Wiers founded Satori Energy in 2003, which has now served over 50,000 accounts and has secured more than $140 Million in energy savings for its clients. In late 2011, Mr. Wiers assisted in the due diligence and purchase of Select Energy Partners (SEP). Mr. Wiers has led the strategic vision of the firm as Satori has continued its pattern of targeted growth through the acquisitions of Public Utility Brokers (September 2014), GOBY LLC's procurement business (December 2014), Velocity Energy Group (January 2015), EnergyNext, Inc. (April 2015), WTX Power (August 2015), and InSource Power (October 2015). Satori evolved to new heights and was recognized as a leader in the deregulated energy industry by the two most highly regarded independent surveys. Satori was awarded “Broker of the Year” by The Electricity Professionals Association in 2015 & 2017 and was ranked #1 in overall supplier satisfaction by Energy Research Consulting Group in 2015, 2016, & 2017. Satori has continued to innovate in the energy industry and acquired Best Power Choice and Energy Choices in 2017.
Trent Stout is a proven leader and business builder with deep capital markets and commodity risk-management experience and is currently a Managing Director focused on structured solutions at Priority Power Management. Prior to joining Priority Power Management, Trent was a founding principal at PowerLink Partners which is an investment vehicle and consulting firm focused on the energy industry. Trent also serves as President for Still Waters Green Technology Limited which is a London-based investment vehicle specializing in renewable energy and power generation real assets. Prior to this, Trent served as the global head of the commodity index and products group for Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML).
During his 10-year tenure at BAML, where Trent was a managing director and member of the commodities senior management committee, he built many new business lines that set the industry standard for innovation. These included commodity-structured products, the flagship Merrill Lynch Commodity Index eXtra® platform, commodity exchange-traded products and the commodity institutional investor sales and structuring group.
Prior to joining BAML, Trent worked in the investment banking groups at Morgan Stanley and Bear Stearns & Co., where he executed numerous M&A, equity and debt capital markets transactions. Trent received his MBA with honors from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He did his undergraduate work at Texas Christian University, where he received his BBA with summa cum laude distinction.
Rick Borry is the Founder and Principal of One World Solar. Prior to launching One World Solar, Rick was the Executive Director of Engineering and Development for Vivo Power and Chief Technology Officer for Principal Solar. Rick has experience across all stages of the utility-scale solar value chain spanning project development, engineering, construction, operations, finance, procurement, contracts, and deal structure.
Rick has served as development portfolio leader for 38 sites in 9 U.S. States totaling 1,800 MWDC. He has deep knowledge of solar generation development in Duke, SCE&G, Georgia Power, Gulf Power, Avista, Pacificorp, Tri-State, Xcel, IREA, SPP, and ERCOT.
Rick holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkley and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University.
Danny Smedley is Vice President Business Development at Priority Power Management. Danny has over 30 years of energy experience and joined our team in 2019 to assist with strategy and business development of the firm.
Prior to joining Priority Power Management, he was previously Senior Sales Executive for TXU Energy, where he was responsible for managing the largest industrial and commercial energy users in Texas. Over his 30 years Danny held numerous operating and leadership positions with TXU Energy. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business from LeTourneau University.
With 23 years of experience across the domestic energy space, Eric is an expert in analyzing markets and opportunities, portfolio construction and optimization, managing and hedging risk, while building and leading teams to aggressively achieve positive results. Prior to joining Priority Power, his career included working in senior roles for utilities, wholesale and retail power merchants, as well as founding and running two energy hedge funds. Additionally, he spent seven years with Kottke Associates trading on the NYMEX, managing his own capital and becoming the highest paid-out trader in the firm’s history. Throughout his career, a focus on integrity and achieving success has helped him develop numerous high-level relationships across the industry. He has a passion for teamwork and working in a culture and environment that communicates effectively, works well under pressure, and strives to outperform internal and external objectives.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance, with Honors, from the University of Maryland.
Nichole Gunter joined Priority Power Management as Vice President of Finance in 2021. With over 25 years of experience, Nichole has held leadership positions responsible for financial planning and analysis, working capital management, shared services, and business process improvement.
She most recently worked as VP Finance at Total Safety, a private equity backed industrial services company, and also has 10 years of experience in the power industry at Reliant Energy and Direct Energy.
Nichole received a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, and a MBA from the University of Houston.
Alex Hanno is Director of Finance of Priority Power Management. He is responsible for financial analysis, forecasting, management reporting, treasury functions, and supports investor relations. He also leads all M&A activities, including financial modeling and diligence.
Prior to joining the company, he was Finance Manager of Noramco, a portfolio company of SK Capital. There he was responsible for financial analysis, financial modeling, and supporting business development. He also assisted with the separation of Chemours (NYSE:CC) into a $5.5B independent public company from DuPont, as well as worked for Ernst & Young.
Alex holds an MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he earned the UNC Kenan-Flagler Leadership Initiative distinction. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Villanova University, where he was on the Dean’s List and played Varsity Tennis earning Big East All-Academic Team honors.
Al Spinello is the Chief Accounting Officer of Priority Power Management. He brings over 15 years of experience in accounting and financial leadership roles. He began his career in public accounting with Ernst & Young serving clients in Canada and in the United States. He subsequently spent 10 years in industry focusing on SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting, and Controllership roles at small and large public companies in various sectors, including metals and mining, logistics, and retail. Prior to joining Priority Power Management, Al was a consultant with Riveron, a business advisory firm.
As CAO, Al oversees all accounting functions, related technology, and system of internal controls. He also supports Priority’s senior management team with the development of financial strategies and execution of business transactions with a focus on regulatory compliance and best practices.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics & Commerce from the University of Catania, Italy, and a Master of Business Administration from Central Connecticut State University. Al is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Justin is an experienced human resources professional with deep expertise in the area of recruiting and talent management. His prior energy employment includes Reliant Energy, Baker Hughes, and KBR/Halliburton. He is well-versed in behavioral-based interviewing, performance management, managerial training, and employee conflict resolution.
Justin holds a BBA in Finance from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Katherine Tappan is the Director of Finance and Investor Relations at Priority Power Management. She co-led the Company’s recapitalization with Ara Partners in February 2019. She assists in creating and communicating Priority’s strategy and growth initiatives as well as supports M&A and capital raising efforts. Katherine brings to Priority over 10 years of relevant experience with a focus on the power sector.
Prior to joining the Company, she was a Vice President in the Investment Banking group at Stephens Inc. While at Stephens, she raised equity and debt capital and completed M&A transactions in excess of $2 billion in transaction value. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Honors from the University of Arkansas, where she was recognized as an Outstanding Student in Finance.
Ken Roper is Director of Business Intelligence. He is responsible for creating data sets, reporting and dashboards to support priority view and custom pricing.
Prior to joining PPM, he was Director of Audit and Analytics at Teleios Commodities where he performed portfolio analysis of retail power contracts for clients. Prior to Teleios he worked in retail energy in various supply and pricing functions for Crius Energy and North American Power.
Ken holds an MS in Financial Risk Management and a BS in Economics from the University of Connecticut.
