Home / Industries / Community Choice Aggregation / Ohio
In Ohio, governmental aggregation lets municipalities, townships, and counties combine the energy loads of residents and small businesses and negotiate supply rates as a single buying group. Communities must be certified as aggregators by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), and programs may cover electricity, natural gas, or both. Programs run opt-out (voter-approved, automatic enrollment with the right to leave) or opt-in. Your local utility continues to deliver energy and maintain service — only the supplier changes.
Communities with sustainability goals can structure their aggregation around renewable supply — blending traditional and green energy, or sourcing 100% renewable through wind and solar products. Aggregation is one of the fastest ways for a community to act on carbon-reduction commitments at no cost to the municipal budget.
New program or an existing aggregation up for renewal — our specialists work with local officials to launch, transition, or continue programs seamlessly.
Tell us a little about your municipality, and our Community Power team will reach out to walk through what a program could look like for your residents — no cost, no commitment.
